Similar to Mafia 1930 but far more detailed, Mafia 2 is set between 1940 and 1950 and is based in Empire Bay, which, though fictional, is based on a hybrid of New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Detroit. Like other roleplay-based games, you've got to maneuver your character around the city to complete certain tasks. The can include stealing cars, collecting firearms and interacting with other computer-controlled characters. There's a lot of variety in Mafia 2, especially in terms of the sheer amount of choice you have when choosing weapons.
You've got your Thompson submachine gun and Colt 1911, but then there's also a Remington 870 pump-action shotgun, an MP 40, M3 submachine gun and more. Now that I have such an awesome machine to game on and a few quality titles to play like Mafia 2 and Bioshock Infinite (Also 32 bit and future up in the air) I really really hope that this game gets updated soon to 64 bit so we can continue our quests in Empire Bay. It’s such a rich, detailed game. It would be a downer if I had to find another way to play it after I’ve bought it already. EEK47, Really enjoyable game! (Updated) I was leery of playing the role of a bad guy at first, but the protagonist is a very sympathetic character, and the graphics and gameplay are terrific! The story is engaging. It is difficult enough to be a challenge, but doable (sometimes with some practice), so you can still enjoy the story and the excitement of various scenes and episodes.
It is played in a rich world with lots of things to appreciate as you travel around.
