WordPress is perhaps the worst platform to be used as a classified site. WordPress is designed to be a blog, therefore the way it handles registered user is not as advance as Joomla or OSclass. The other problem with using WordPress is the theme doubles up as the classified extension, making changing design almost impossible in the near future. It’s more than 500+ combinations! Osclass is much better, I used to use open classifieds but it gets too slow when you have a large numbers of ads. In my opinion open classifieds might have extra options that osclass lacks, but at the end of the day if these extra options I get are gonna make my site too slow to the point that its barely unusable then I prefer to stick with osclass.
The creators of osclass chose to make it lightweight and didn’t include all the options by default, that’s why they created the plugins compatibility, that way user are able to extend there classifieds site using plugins. I recommend you use osclass to start your classifieds site, and get a premium theme for it, the BEST I found so far is Neutron theme by check it out.
