Hi all, first off. I am frustrated and pissed. I have spent the last three days trying to install an original mbox and pt le 6.4. My friend / client bought this a year ago. He never was able to install it, period.

He just got a new computer (see below for system summary) and he asked if i could install this for him. The install cdrom gets to 'digidesign pro tools driver installer' and then freezes. Now, many of you know, this will partially install and changed the registry and will not let you uninstall it. Three times now, we have used 'regcleaner' to remove everything.

And every new install hangs up at the 'driver installer'. We have tried to load a newer version including le6.9cs. All update versions say they need to see le6.4 first. (catch 22 anyone) we have contacted DUC and done win xp general toubleshooting twice. We have contacted technical service, they refused to help.

(out of date or some bleep!) we tried calling fee paid tech support both phone and CC. (nothing but busy signals) fee paid CC tech support made us enter CC info (secure???) and then gave us a busy signal. Is this company for real!!! Do they have a clue as to what customer support even means?

Hey Matt, couple things I would try that might help: 1. Disable HyperTheading 2. Snowjiber is correct that you will want to try disabling onboard sound and any raid features. I would suggest trying to set everything for playback.etc. Through your MBox in your sound pref's.

The only other thing that I question that caught my eye honestly was the AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3400+. I am not 100% certain and someone else may be able to clarify, but I am not sure Digi software will install on a machine with this form of chipset. I could be wrong though to be honest. You might also try: tweaks to fine tune the machine for audio. Good advice there regarding raid. Also, make sure you install the latest PACE interlok drivers after installing Pro Tools LE 6.4 and before launching Pro Tools.
